The creative mind of Marcel Woods returns on High Contrast with the third instalment of his 'Musical Madness' compilation. A fusion of electronic styles all rolled into one from this Dutch madman...
Someone’s not been taking their meds again and that someone’s Marcel Woods! After the 2008 and 2010 visits to his compilation sanatorium brought him legions of new fans, Woods is on the loose again. Seizing his opportunity with both hands, he’s run amok through the corridors of some of electronic dance music’s finest labels, grabbing tracks left and right.
On his rampage, floor-carnivore Marcel (ranked the 63rd best DJ in the world) has locked down some invincible, genre-bending audio from similarly ‘enlightened’ production minds - mixing it into an 18-track, convention-flouting, anything-goes mix.
Asylum breakout: From inside his cell Marcel unleashes an opening outburst of Flamingo Recordings and Trouse Records gear - letting fly with the latest club-weapons from the likes of Baggi Begovic, Ellez Marinni and Tigran Oganezov. They provide the getaway’s slow-burning techno overture! Fedde Le Grand and Patric La Funk help unbuckle the straightjacket with their current monster-Moog/church-organ riffing electro-pulse, ‘Autosave’, which jacks Musical Madness 3 into high-gear. With its looping, loopy alarm-like vocal, Wippenberg’s ‘Phoenix’ charges the guards… Right behind it is his massive Get Wipped! follow-up ‘U R’, which is spurred on by Marco V’s latest TAO marvel ‘Provider’ and ‘Big Ben’ from super-hot duo Save the Robots.
In the final break for the gate, fellow Musical Madness label inmate Chris de Seed provides a double-dose, steroid-driven sound-charge to the mix with his ‘Heartbreaker’ and ‘Things’ tracks. That just leaves it down to Marcel himself to shrug off the straightjacket with ‘Champagne Dreams’ and link up with Tiësto outside the fence to drop their dirty, juggernaut-large collaboration ‘Don’t Ditch’!
Watch out people: Musical Madness 3 is free from its harnesses and on the run! It’ll soon loom large on CD shelves and download portals around the world. Irrepressible and loveably lunatic, this time it’s down to you to re-capture it!
