The German duo of Blank & Jones love their 80’s music and in unearthing the classic 12” originals from that time period they will soon embark on the fifth edition of ‘so80s’…
It’s hard to really put a stamp on the musical policy of Blank & Jones these days. They have moved away from the banging trance fused beats they made their name with in the earlier parts of the last decade. They have been very mellow in recent times with their very popular ‘Relax’ compilations and while they seem to be into house more than anything else production wise at the moment there is one compilation series from Piet & Jaspa that has bright back some of the timeless classics from a period know as the 80’s.
It all started with the first edition of ‘so80s’ that compiled together the original and re-mastered 12” classics from a time period that inspired many of today’s biggest electronic dance music names, not to mention the Blank & Jones guys. We all love a bit of 80’s but rest assured this series is not a Tony Blackburn drive time special but a selection of tracks that have inspired musical minds around the world.
They have delivered four editions so far as well as four artists only packs in their quest to bring the 80’s sound back to life. Some editions maybe better than others but it all depends on who your favourite artists from the 80’s were. With so much music to choose from it was inevitable that the guys would not just stick to the one volume. The fifth edition is on its way and although no tracklist has been announced just yet, or a firm release date, if you’re into this series as much as we are you deserve the heads up it’s on its way.
