© Roger ShahThere is some very exciting news coming from Roger Shah HQ this month with a new single on the way with a very famous vocalist and word his next artist album is due this summer...

Summer sunshine and Roger Shah are the perfect mixture, especially with his balearic audio tones as the backdrop. It’s a style he’s become famous for over the years under his own name and of his more relaxed ‘Sunlounger’ alias. I’m not sure if he will be releasing any of the latter over the next few months but he’s definitely got new Roger Shah material coming your way soon. He’s working hard on a brand new artist album for release this July and very shortly the first single from it will be hitting the streets. The vocal harmonics are from a vocalist you might not know by name but definitely by tone. Who is it? Keep reading for all the juice.

Roger Records With Clannad’s Moya Brennan

May 30th will see the release of Roger’s brand new track with singer sensation Moya 'Marie' Brennan. Known to millions as the voice behind Chicane’s anthemic ‘Saltwater’, Roger got in contact with her having been blown away by one of her live classical concerts. The result is 'Morning Star' - an incredible sun-tipped track whose influences come together somewhere between County Donegal and the Balearics. DJ Mag has already called it “a coup” as well as saying that ‘Morning Star’ is both “poignant” and “haunting”. Mixmag meanwhile summed it up as “perfectly grafting the Celtic twang of the uilleann pipes to Shah’s regulation gauzy Med-head synths”. ‘Morning Star’ is out at the end of the month through Magic Island Records.

Roger Shah: The New Artist Album - First Details!

The news all Shah fans have been waiting for (and we’ve been itching to tell you!). The follow up to his 2008 artist album ‘Songbook’ will be touching down on the 29th of July 2011! Roger has revealed that the album will be titled ‘Openminded!?’ and will feature many of Roger’s regular vocal team-ups - Chris Jones, Inger Hansen and Adrina Thorpe among them. In a major branchout though, it will also include some other world-class singer-songwriter talent. Included among them will be Sian Evans from Kosheen, Moya Brennan from Clannad, Carla Werner (the voice behind Oakenfold’s ‘Southern Sun’) Salma Ross (winner of Armada Music’s discover a singer competition) and Maltese sensation Ira Losco.

ASOT500, Ministry Debut And TranceFusion

Over the course of last month, Roger rocked three major European events. He brought his sub-tropical trance sound to the Netherlands leg of Armin’s almighty ASOT500 celebrations, playing the A State of Green stage at the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. Just a week later he’s was in the UK to headline South London trance-tropolis The Gallery, Ministry of Sound , making a big splash with his debut there. Rounding off April in style he was in Prague on the 30th to play the massive TranceFusion night at Prumyslovy Palac in the Czech capital alongside ATB, Dash Berlin, Cosmic Gate, Sean Tyas and a host of others!

Roger Remixes The Legendary 'Yeke Yeke'

Having picked up and reworked the immortal 'Yeke Yeke' by Mory Kante, Loverush UK asked Roger if he'd like to remix the track that originally became famous on Balearic Beat dancefloors in the late 80s. A massive fan of it, Roger jumped at the chance and his reconstruction will shortly be out thru Loverush UK records.

In the meantime though you can get a listen to the Roger Shah Pumpin' Island Remiix by pointing your mouse here and clicking!
