Filterwolf, the critically acclaimed DJ, producer and live act hailing from Munich, is back with a new full-length album.
Out from today on FILIGRAN Records, Night Patterns is an artful 12-track blend of heady European and international flavours.
There’s the synth infused Italo-disco inspired beats and operatic vocals of Parlami D’Amore. Or Glass Bead Game, with its parallels to much-missed New Yorkers LCD Soundsystem. Each track is a delight in its own specific way, showcasing a careful blend of cultural influences that together create a highly accomplished body of work.
The label heads have already proclaimed themselves ‘proud to release this remarkable achievement and artistic triumph.’ Dancefloor Mayhem called it ‘forward thinking at it’s finest’. The UK’s 1 Mix Radio were practically falling over themselves to bestow a positive review: “If you search for uniqueness, creativity, fresh ideas and sounds from the past and the future in the same melting pot in order to come up with a stand out result then you need this great album in your collection.“
Filterwolf has also received strong support from Zombie Nation, John Acquaviva, Spektre, Ivan Smagghe, Groove Armada, Slam, Dirt Crew and Coldcut. The first single to be drawn from the album is Klezmer’s Revenge. A sure-fire hit, the track taps into the current fashion for minor key melodies with a clarinet part that is both playful and haunting at the same time. Already being played by electronic radio stations around the world, its syncopated percussion and taut beats make for compulsive listening.
From start to finish the album is a joy to listen to. Filterwolf’s strong understanding of narrative structure infuses each track with personality – it is clear that evoking a strong emotional response to his work is important to this artist. From the heart-warming acoustic tonality of opener Colour Of Spring to the grandiose choral elements of closing track Burana Channel, the listener feels a level of involvement with each track that is the calling card of great electronic music. Filterwolf – Night Patterns is digitally out from today on FILIGRAN Records and available on http://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/366835/Night%20Patterns and all other online music retailers. The album will be physically available from June 17th.
