With the summer sunshine on your back its the perfect time to chill out. Just as well Solarstone has an ambient edition of his Electronic Architecture for the audio backdrop...
It may well be the calm before the electronic storm for Solarstone as he unloads a chilled out version of his recent compilation album Electronic Architecture². It’s a sombre edition of one of the finest compilations to come this year from an unquestionable legend on the trance and progressive scene Solarstone. Trance and progressive yes, but his musical scope stretches far beyond any genre boundaries. If the chilled stuff is not for you then have a nosy at his latest single ‘Zeitgeist’. That’s German for something…I’m not to sure what. Read on for the rest of this months Solarstone news and the latest tunes from his record labels.
The Poll Of Polls Opens…
The first story in this SolarNews edition could have been about anything. Harry Potter. Apple. Apples. Bananas. Other assorted fruit. Space Shuttles. Copa America. How America copa wid da hot weather. Pippa Middleton. Race horses. Robot jet-skis, bingo, Bugattis or that new bukkake phone hacking craze. But no, we wanted to lead with something more newsworthy than all of those. So we thought we'd write one about a poll you might know - DJ Mag's Top 100! The Mag launched their 2011 ballot amid the usual hoopla last night, which means you've got a 7+ weeks to make your mind up and have your say.
So, here's the pitch! If you've worn down some shoe rubber dancing to 'Big Wheel' or felt your hands rise above shoulder height whilst listening to one of Rich's recent remix clutch; enjoyed a deep, feel-good rush perhaps whilst cocking an ear to 'Electronic Architecture2' or simply seen Rich behind a pair of turntables, paused and thought 'heh, I like the cut of that fella's jib!' then please show some support by popping 'Solarstone' in one of your boxes.
Your largesse will be blessed... with much more of the above!
EA² - The Ambient Edition - Out Now!
Under a cloak of secrecy Rich spent the first months of 2011 stealth-planning 'TheAmbientEdition' expansion pack for his Electronic Architecture2 compilation. Waiting time for this fantastic add-on is now over folks as the album is out today and is yours for the collecting! Mix 1 is fully focused on delivering an unbroken 80 minutes of seaside atmospherics and sun-kissed sounds, while 2’s tone shifts towards enigmatic and more filmic audio. The CD version of the album comes as a strictly limited edition release exclusively through the SolarShop. To secure your copy in a ‘don’t delay, grab it today’, type-fashion, hit this link now! Or if you're download inclined, the mp3 edition is available at Beatport, iTunes and Juno and all other good DD retailers. Solarstone 'Zeitgeist' – On Full Release! 'Zeitgeist' - the latest alumni to graduate to single status from Solarstone's 'Touchstone' long-player - is in download stores now. The Original mix is a thoroughbred progressive number that mounts warping synths and soaring, calling vocals on top of one mofo of a bottom-end! Those on the hunt for something a bit groovier need look no farther than Solarstone's Smashing Atoms mix, which spins the track out to funkier floors. Additional remix weaponry is leant by Dennis Sheperd (whose remix was personally tracked down by Armin for ASOT play) Tom Cloud, Active Limbic System and Tasadi.

LABEL UPDATE
Aerium 'Icedive' Next to be lifted from the Electronic Architecture 2 album is Aerium's 'Icedive'. It's a warm, melodic progressive trancer from Holland's Leander Rispens, a guy with a host of releases on labels like Unearthed, Future State and Bonzai. The Original and Alternative versions are spacious, deep instrumentals which each focus on a different melodic element of the track, our mix of choice being the 'Alternative' mix. Lush breakdowns and 'Greece 2000'-esque progressions are the order of the day. Dave Horne strips the track back to an progressive groove that twists and turns with sprinkings of neaty production tricks. For the big room trance floors we've ushered in Almar to pump things up, and his rocking uplifting trance mix delivers the goods.

DJ Orion & J. Shore 'Architect's Dream'' Dj Orion aka Juska Wendland is one of Finland's finest Dj / producers. On this release he teams up with fellow Fin Joonas Mikkila for Molecule's 9th release, forming the entro track on Solarstone's 'Electronic Architecture 2' album. Top of the pile remix wise is Swedish producer Claes Rosen (Sick Wantana, Silk Music, Stripped) with a sumptuous Cafe Mambo-esque laid back lounge house mix, awash with fantastic guitars and grooves, something for the weekend indeed. Magnetic Bros twist the minimal knobs with their glitchy prog-tech mix, stripping things out to a chunky club groove. Track 3 is the blissed out beatless ambient dub mix taken from Electronic Architecture 2. Check out the label website at moleculerecordings.com for all that there is to know and all that there is to be!

Active Limbic System 'Vanity' Lifted from Solarstone's Electronic Architecture 2 album, we present this uplifting trancer from Greece's ALS. The Original mix is a powerful uplifting melodic trance record, one for the 138bpm peak time crowd. It's evocative leads press all the right buttons. Moonwalkers crank up the octane with their tough dutch sounding mix, awash with nu-trance elements and peaky tones, this is main club mix in our opinion. Chris Oblivion's rework is a more chilled pretty trance mix, a nice addition to the pack. Finally Chris Voro has given us something a bit unusual, it's A blend of trance, ambient and a hint of a dubstep pace.

Avatar One 'Jacinta's Voyage' This is the 9th release on the worlds very first - and only - social network record label. Solarstone is the only artist to have a label run and supported by a commitee who choose all music and art for each release! Something progressive and melodic here from Avatar One who has previous releases on Perfecto, Thrive, Bonzai and System. The Original mix is a progressive trance affair with an old scholl Global Underground flavor - intelligent arrangment and delicate production. Temple One's main room trance mix is exactly what you'd expect from the Enhanced man-of-the-moment - rousing synth riffs, pounding rhythm and a stunning break. Adam Fielding's breaks driven cinematic mix is one for Adam Sheridan / Way Out West / Hybrid fans - gorgeous rolling percussion & a well thought out structure for an eyes closed afterhours session.
