What should have been two fantastic days in Sweden almost turned out to be a huge personal drama for Dutch DJ/producer Artento Divini.
After having performed on a cruise liner on the Baltic Sea during the infamous Monday Bar Cruise event, his homecoming in The Netherlands was everything but expected. During the ride between Schiphol Airport Amsterdam and Artento Divini’s following performance, Artento’s car caught fire and the raging inferno that followed was something Artento could barely escape from.
Accompanied by his colleagues Fausto and Jonas Stenberg, Artento Divini (Ard Schilderink) got into his car to commence the journey to the Dutch coast to perform at a beach club gathering. But minutes before his stop-over where Jonas Stenberg needed to be dropped off, all went horribly wrong. Artento Divini: “I don’t think I ever was this scared in my whole life. During the ride we smelled a burning scent but as it was a beautiful summer day, we didn’t suspect anything as we thought it was just a barbecue. But as soon as the flames raged through my car dashboard, I knew we had a big problem.”
Upon arrival of the local press, Artento Divini was submitted to interviews on the spot. “Not something I fancied to do, as I was still shaking like a leaf”, according to Artento Divini. Being asked the question if he has a different perspective on life after his scary adventure, Artento declares: “Leading the DJ life is hectic, I basically live between the studio and my weekly gigs without really appreciating the smaller things in life.” To the question if he has a to-do list lying around in case his end will near, Artento replied: “Before I’ll go six feet under, my biggest professional wish is to be in the DJ Mag Top 100, for most of the DJ’s out there still the holy grail of all DJ lists.”
