Following the warm critical reception to his 1.0 EP, Kramnik is back with a follow-up release on Code2 Records. Kramnik 2.0 EP demonstrates the same bravery and clarity of vision as his previous release and introduces two new tracks, M1 and Schirzo.
Both tracks showcase Kramnik’s understanding of how to use complex layering processes to create tracks that emote, engaging his audience on a cerebral level. In both tracks Kramnik projects a fierce intelligence and an awareness of his craft. These attributes, the pillars of successfully realized EDM, are the defining characteristics of this artist. At its core, M1 harnesses deep, reverberating brass sounds that call out to the listener like a foghorn. The track is atmospheric in the way that the best film scores are – it causes a heightened sense of awareness in the listener and arouses genuine curiosity. Schirzo takes the listener on an audio exploration, progressing energetically with the introduction of each additional element. There is true artistry in the construction, a methodical approach that explains why Kramnik is already attracting positive attention from the music media.
Support for his 1.0 EP has been impressive, with great reviews from iDJ, Mixmag, Be-Dance.be, M-Audio, Pioneer, Sirius XM and Data Transmission. DJ Mag made it their ‘top pick’ and iDJ has named Kramnik as ‘One to watch.’
Klubbers.com called it ‘one of the best, if not probably the best EP we’ve listened to this year, because of its complexity… because of its harmonies… and because of its bold and daring sound.’
Kramnik hails from Madrid. He worked at a major record label for several years, working with artists including The Eurythmics and Garbage and shaping his understanding of the industry. His eventual move into EDM was inevitable though, and his standing as a figurehead of the scene in his native city is well deserved. Those wishing to find out more about this artist should investigate his Invisible radio show. This series of short mixes, ‘primed to fall on the intelligent ears of the listening elite,’ is a superb introduction to Kramnik’s style and taste.
Kramnik 2.0 EP is out from today on Code2 Records and available on www.beatport.com and all other music retailers.
