It's a fairly meaty update this month from Solarstone with a smoking new remix of Lana Del Rey's 'Video Games' just one audio offering from the electronic architect to get stuck into...
It’s a very welcome update from Solarstone, otherwise know to friends and family as Rich Mowatt. He’s been smashing out some stunning Solaris International radio shows this month and a few of the tracks he’s been showcasing you can check out in this months update. The latest single from his last artist album ‘Touchstone’ is out with ‘Breakaway’. He’s also done a gorgeous remix of a debut single from Lana Del Ray for ‘Video Games’ and has a sequel to a collaboration he did with Orkidea in the form of ‘Slowmotion II’.
Lana Del Rey - Video Games Solarstone Remix
Solarstone has lent 'Video Games' - the debut single from hotter-than-hot songstress Lana Del Rey - an incredible Subterranean Remix take. He's coupled the singer's languid lyrics and smokey 50s evoking vocals to a housey, proggy and sometimes trancey production for a remix that DJ Mag's says (in their 9/10 October issue review) is "unlike anything Solarstone's done before". Above & Beyond have been just as quick to support on Trance Around The World and if you've not yet heard what all the 'Video Games' fuss is about, well now you can!
Solarstone Headlines Quest4Trance Later this month Rich will be heading Holland-side to play Quest 4 Trance in Gorinchem. Saturday November the 12th is the date, and if you diary is currently registering empty for that night, listen up! Rich is offering 3 x 2 pairs of tickets to be won for the night. All you need to do is keep you eyes peeled on his Solarstone Fanpage over the next few days, wait for the competition to go up, answer the dead-easy question and hold your breath (though not literally!). The 3 lucky winners will be able to enter a Quest 4 Trance in The Netherlands absolutely free!
Solarstone In At No.57 On Trance Addict's 2011 Poll
Arguably the truest representation of how the DJs in the genre stack up, Trance Addict’s published their top 250 poll last week. Off the back of a second edition of Electronic Architecture, some killer singles, forward thinking remixes and a whole lotta great gigs, Solarstone has shot up 37 places to no.57. He’d like to say huge thanks to everyone who got behind him in the poll. You can check the full rundown on TA's Facebook fan page. Closing date for your entries is 23.00 on the 11, 11, 11. Breakaway Receives A Single Release ‘Breakaway’, one of the fan-favourites from Solarstone’s ‘RainStarsEternal’ album has finally graduated to single status, three years after the album’s release. Spurred on by a long gestating remix from Russia’s DJ Feel, Rich has taken Breakaway back into the studio himself and give the track Phuture Vocal and Dub reworks. The Alex Karweit vocalled call-it-what-you-want genre-mutator is out now and available from the Solaris Recordings website. Orkidea & Solarstone 'Slowmotion II' Having caused lightning to strike once with their Slowmotion track last year, Solarstone has been back into the studio with Finland’s Orkidea to make it happen again! They’ve created ‘Slowmotion II’ and if the first one paid ear-service to Sasha and Digweed’s Renaissance times, then its sequel will very like do the same for Mike Oldfield. The track premieres on Orkidea’s third artist album ‘20’, which is released on Solaris Recordings on the 11th of the 11th of the ‘11th!
Federation - Something To Dream About After Federation (Solarstone and Ben Lost) scored a dance floor direct hit back in May with 'Synchronized' plans were quickly made to record a follow up. Federation toiled in the studio and result is 'Something To Dream About'. The track (which has been given plenty of ASOT love over the last few months, see below) is out now on Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Flouro label. You can pick it up at the other end of this link!
LABEL UPDATE
Poonyk & Oxide 'Weekend' Belarusians Poonky & Oxide blur the house / trance boundaries here with their sun-kissed Balearic funky bassline stabbed slab of loveliness which is the Original Mix of 'Weekend' - taken from Solarstone's Electronic Architecture 2. Dmitry Globa 'La Aurora Boreal' La Aurora Boreal is the work of Ukranian producer Dmitry. The track is gorgeous downtempo soundscape, rolling cut up breaks and percussion underpin the lush pad and piano layers, and later on some warm bubbling synths filter up and wash over the listener. Stuart Millar 'Cosmic Dawn’ Stuart is the only Northern Irish dance music DJ who had presented for and continues to work with both BBC Radio 1 and RTE, and which previous releases on High Contrast Nu Breed, Monster Tunes, UMM & Nukleuz he is as much in demand as a producer as a Dj. Jean-Luc Wu 'Music Box' Music Box' is an unusual track, based around a beautiful orchestral arrangement scored by Jean-Luc himself, the track weaves in and out of progressive trance production featuring crisp hats, sprinkles of melodic arpeggios and some neat stutter FX.. :: All available from the Solarstone store!
