Featured at this exclusive all night event were some of Italy's finest DJ's / Producers: Joy Kitikonti, Mauro Picotto and Gabry Fasano.
Godskitchen arranged the colaboration of some of Italy's finest and called it an 'Italian Night' and what a night it was; as these Italians didn't let us down at all. AJ Gibson was playing from 9.30 - 12.00 to get the crowd warmed up and then the lineup was as follows:
Joy Kitikonti: 12.00-02.00 Mauro Picotto: 02.00-4.00 Gabry Fasano: 04.00-06.00
We walked into the club at roughly 10 o'clock while Godskitchen resident AJ Gibson was warming the crowd up. The club was only about roughly half full but this soon changed as midnight approached. AJ Gibson is a very talented DJ indeed and has a number of residencies at other clubs too. He was mostly playing Progressive House with the odd one or two slight euphoric / vocal trance records. He certainly had the crowds full attention as those harder edged chunky beats were sending the crowd wild jumping around the dancefloor.
Next in line was Joy Kitikonti for a two hour set. Joy has had his first massive club hit with 'Joyenergizer', which was hammered by many DJ's such as Judge Jules which is where most people recognise his name from. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this Musician for the next two hours as I had never heard a live set from him before. It was hard to class the genre of music that he was playing - it was a combination of Funky Progressive House and Techno. I was very impressed with his skills as a DJ and he was certainly very good at scratching! One thing that sent the crowd into a frenzy was slowing a record right down down to about 1% and then speeding it back up to about 200% before bringing it back to normal playing speed. This seemed very unusual but it made the crowd go wild - it sent them into a frenzy... and they were loving every second of it! At about 1.45, everyone spotted Mauro entering the DJ booth and every single person clapped and cheered with great enthusiasm welcoming him.
It was time for the Italian master himself; Mauro Picotto. At this point the dancefloor was crammed to 100% full capacity and I wouldn't have expected anything less! Mauro's music which he plays is often difficult to class in any particular genre. He played a combination of mind blowing techno and mad hard trance to produce his own unique sound. He had complete control over the music which was both strong and powerful. Mauro's set was so full of energy, the crowd just couldn't stop going crazy to the fast and hard sound which Mauro continued to spin. Joy Kitikonti came back into the DJ Booth to watch his BXR buddy in action and was also dancing to Mauro's amazing music.
Gabry Fasano soon joined Mauro and Joy in the DJ booth and was finishing off with the 4.00 to 6.00 set. It was obvious that all three of them were having a great time in there audibly pleasing and satisfying the huge crowd in front of them. Gabry Fasano is an original DJ/Producer, a protagonist of european nightlife. He's played in Holland, France, Portugal and Brasil too. He defines his own sound style as "dancefloor impact hi lo fi tech". Gabry finished off the night nicely and played a lot of Mauro's own productions which the crowd absolutely loved.
At about 6am, Gabry was letting Mauro take control of the mixer which was pretty much an excellent surprise. The crowd loved it and cheered for him to play another record. So he did. The Italian's just didn't want to stop. At about 6.15 someone came into the booth and turned the sound off but Mauro insisted he played just one last record to please the crowd. He was very persistant and managed to get it out. But sadly, this excellent night had to come to an end eventually and what a fantastic night it was!
