© Americas Best DJIt's time to settle the argument for the 7th year running with America's Best DJ poll presented by DJ Times and Pioneer. Your vote is needed to see who the best DJ is stateside for 2012...

The DJ’s penetration into pop culture has created renewed interest for the scene’s mainstays—plus a new crop of young and exciting DJ/producers have bubbled up from the underground. Yes, the American scene has been influenced by European DJs over the years, but let’s not forget the incredible talent this country has produced.

With that, we’re back to celebrate the U.S-based DJ with the 2012 America’s Best DJ competition: Who will succeed 2011 champion Kaskade and become America’s Best DJ for 2012?

Now in its 7th year, the three-month-long promotion run by DJ Times magazine & title-sponsored by Pioneer DJ asks the eternal question: “Who’s America’s Best DJ?” Beginning on May 25, fans can vote for their favorite DJs at the America’s Best DJ Website.

Running concurrently with the competition, America’s Best DJ Summer Tour Presented by Pioneer DJ & DJ Times kicked off for the 5th consecutive year at Movement, Detroit’s electronic music festival, this Memorial Day weekend. The annual event drew over 100,000 fans to Hart Plaza and featured performances by ABDJ nominees Jeff Mills, Carl Craig, Claude VonStroke, Derrick Carter, Dillon Francis, DJ Godfather, Josh Wink, Diplo (playing with Major Lazer), Mark Farina, and Stacey Pullen.

The Summer Tour will visit a dozen major markets with more than 20 summer-event dates. DJ Times will maintain a dedicated exhibit booth and take paper-ballot votes from fans supporting their favorite U.S.-based DJs. Both the voting and tour will run from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the America’s Best DJ award show/closing party will be held October 7 at Marquee Nightclub in Las Vegas.

Online voting and social-media interaction also give fans the chance to win awesome prizes. Just by voting for your favorite DJ on the America’s Best DJ website, by following America’s Best DJ on Twitter or by clicking “Like” on the America’s Best DJ Facebook Page, you’ll be entered to win exciting prizes from Pioneer DJ—including HDJ-2000K headphones, HDJ-1500 headphones and a black DJM-250 mixer.

Also, one lucky voter (plus a guest) will win a grand prize trip for two to Las Vegas that includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, and VIP treatment at the America’s Best DJ closing party/award ceremony. Note: Both the online vote and tour runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Drawing will be held September 7.

The 2011 America’s Best DJ vote was the closest in its six-year history. Eventual winner, Kaskade edged a diverse group of top jocks that included Skrillex, Z-Trip, BT, Steve Aoki, Diplo, Wolfgang Gartner, A-Trak and Bassnectar. At promotion’s end, Kaskade was presented with a gold-plated Pioneer DJM-800 mixer at Las Vegas’ Marquee. Afterward, he rocked the club’s packed crowd, still basking in the glory of being voted America’s Best DJ. Who will it be this year?
