Method (sister label to baroque) have imprinted their reputation on the progressive world. Is this current affair going to be as deep as that which we have heard in the past?
A SIDE: Vocal Mix B SIDE: Mark Wheawill's eat you heart out baby dub
A SIDE: This starts out a bit like Parks and Wilson's- Feel The Drums EP. It has a nice little electro vibe though accompanying it too. It is quite a busy track to set the mood. The bassline isnt as heavy or deep as we have come to expect. It is more a tribal feel. A fantastic male vocal (from M.Wheawill himself!) begins to twist through the sounds produced. A cool mixture of effects and drums/toms combine to lead you to believe that this is not going to let up. It turns into something of an epic journey-bordering progressive trance-if such a genre exists. It breaks to a single bassline and electronic effect-which fades to introduce a second effect which in turn fades to leave the menacing bass to set the track. A second introduction to the vocal is added to with it overtoned in a higher pitch. In the concluding third the track ends how it begun-with all the usual suspects adding to the track then decreasing to draw it to a close.
B SIDE: The track starts out with a nice half bassline for a couple of bars before a deep pounding bassline takes effect. A mini vocoded vocal saying (surprise surprise ;O) ) "spiritualised" lays deep under the track. The track begins to build increasing effects and poise. The opening is taster of the dark mission we are about to go on. It drops to leave a mini melody to prepare you. Then it almost restarts with a basic bassline a nice little synth with a rolling poppy sound. The vocal still re-occurs every phrase or two. The moody bass holds the track together to give it the atmosphere. Quality high hats lead you to a peak time melody which flows to contradict the bass. The vocal is extended to a few spoken words-on a much lighter scale but 'effected' still. The track chuggs on as before to then hit another gear taking it away from the rise-instead going deep. Towards the end of the track the bassline outways the synth to roll to a quality close.
This is quality. Two contrasting tracks on one disc-one deep one tribal edged- can't ask for more!... It continues on the method and even baroque vein. Mark Wheawell is unknown to many of us ..but if he keeps producing tracks like this-he may not stay in the shadows for long!
