The new release on Monster really lives up to its label name with a ‘monster’ of a track from Ralph Novell called ‘Lagoon’…
This is a world’s first for Ralph as ‘Lagoon’ is his debut track on the Monster Tunes imprint. He joins a long list of fellow label artists like Ad Brown, John Askew, Mark Eteson and Jorn van Deynhoven who have used the Monster brand to push their trance out into the market over the past few years. He’s an artist from germany who has been around before in 2004 with tracks like ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Stardust’. Having taken time out he’s back and ready to push the big room trance out once more. The first offering is a single track EP on Monster called ‘Lagoon’.
:: Original Mix :: Radio Edit
If I’m honest I had to have a little look back at Ralph’s old tunes to get an impression of what kind of trance he delivers. I needn’t have bothered as this debut track on Monster blew me away. It’s a record that’s deeply filled with uplifting and spacious chords that echo away driving through a superb atmosphere. The main riff is huge, backed up by a superb percussion elements and a beat that drops a good punch to it. The sound in here is very fresh and crisp all the way through. This is euphoric trance with hugely atmospheric elements to put your head in a good place. No remixes for this release, just an original and an edit if you’re in a rush but I don’t think you will be once you get your ears around this.
Conclusion:
This may well be the sign of many good things to come from a refreshed and re-energized Ralph Novell if this release is anything to go by. Full of uplifting atmospheric goodness and in my view an essential addition to the trance collection.
