Shakedown was the project which brought the two brothers Mandrax and Seb K musically together. The first single, taken from their spectacular album, is 'At Night' and it is being hammered by every house DJ at the moment. This is partly due to the phenomenal package of remixes it has.
Original Mix
It is an electronic romp through some quality soulful house. The vocals are amazing with this woman signing “Seems I can’t deny….. I can feel much better”. Keep this on your mind because you are going to listen to it a lot at your local house clubs the next months. It seems like a 80s disco track. Prepare for the remixes.
Alan Braxe Remix
Steady disco beat is giving the idea what will happen soon with this massive remix. Another weird beat joins in and starts to drive us near a storm with an electronic sound coming up. It keeps going like that until THE BREAK. The amazing vocals are coming in and now it is time to start memorizing “I Can Feel Much Better”. It builds up until a huge bass comes in which brings the track near its end. My humble opinion: Massive!
Mousse T's Feel Good
It keeps the original sound but it is a filtered disco monster. It is already massive among the disco house DJs. It is taken straight from the 80's with 20th century elements inside. I can't describe it. It is just awesome for disco lovers and the vocals are still here on a different way which makes it very interesting. Very soulful vocals. Superb track for disco fans.
Kid Crème Funksta Mix
Defected brings in a new remix of this hit. For a person who has damaged all house dance floors lately, we can't say anything alse then: this man can make miracles with anything he touches. A real funky house track. There is no reason to talk much about it, appreciation makes people silent. It is a typical funk kid crème mix with new male vocals on top plus the old superb female ones. As always he uses a lot of filters on his sounds to create a special atmosphere around his mix. It simply gives a new life to this track which will make it hammered even more. This mix has a “Defected” stamp on it which means top quality house music.
There isn’t much more to say. Defected delivers one of the best house tracks of year 2002. It seems they are on the roll with upcoming releases. Keep an eye on them.
