Last year Faithless made a big come back into the electronic dance scene with releasing their third album ‘Outrospective’. Three singles from this album being, ‘We Come 1’, ‘Muhammad Ali’ and ‘Tarantula’ were definitely the most important ones. They have been remixed by Tiesto, Rollo and Sister Bliss, Full Intention Oliver Lieb and many others. Now they are back with ‘One Step Too Far’ which features the vocals of the well known Dido and it is already massive.

Rollo and Sister Bliss Remix
It has been like this with every faithless single, the first and main mix is produced by the duo. It starts with a steady beat and teasing vocals on the background. After a while it starts getting faster with more electronic sounds joining in. It keeps this motive for a while until it goes to a break while vocals are coming in supported with sporadic drums on the background. Many filters are used on the vocals. It starts to build up and steps into mad electronic sounds and a lot of “space” filters. Near the end all the electronic sounds disappear and it goes on with the steady faithless beat while Rollo vocals join and stay present until the end.

Rollo and Sister Bliss Funky Remix
It starts again with a steady beat. After a while it makes place for a mad deep funky beat with weird electronic sounds popping in and out. Dido’s vocals are joining again, always with that teasing method. Typical build up from the start and, while the time goes, it gets more and more banging. Suddenly it drops into a small breakdown with the beat still in and vocals on top. Now it starts getting wild again. A massive bass and electronic beats and sounds make their presence. This motive stays for a while until it goes into electronic madness and again, it builds itself up with this typical bass on the background. At the end the electronic sounds disappear, probably to make the dj life a bit easier.

Alex Neri Club Vocal
We see something new with this mix, tribal elements. It starts and goes this way, again, with electronic sounds on the far end of the background. The steady beat is once again not forgotten. What to say? This is crossover of many genres. Steady Beats, Electronic sounds, Tribal elements and uplifting trance methods. Vocals are the same high quality of Dido's, all the way to the end dropping in and out with the methods I pointed out before. It is something weird and different but the outcome is very good.

Absolute Beginners Mix
The beginning starts with a steady beat and drums on the background. After that, some atmospheric sounds join to make it more euphoric but it doesn’t last long because the beat is getting faster and faster. Now it's time for weird sounds to come in and out. It drops to a break with progressive beats and the vocals appear through filters. It takes us into a deep progressive mood with, also in this remix, tribal elements, mostly far behind, while it slows down around the middle. Now it goes back into the same steady mood, this time without a new build up. From now on, the vocals are fully exposed and it keeps this same mood all the way to end.

There are more mixes on the vinyls but these were the mixes that exist on the BMG Promo CD that I received. The Vinyl edition is splitted in 3 parts that also have:

Alex Neri Club Instrumental
Alex Neri Dub

This time BMG really threw out a very big package of this track. The only missing thing is a trance version as other singles used to have. Maybe in the future we see any. As expected, well done Faithless.
