Katana have two new productions available on this record, one with the most amazing rippling, warbling synth melody which I have ever heard...
Another release from Katana on the SILVER PREMIUM label which was released in Holland late February. Getting heavy plays from the usual: Armin, Tiesto and Marco V who spun 'Gemini' in his INNERCITY set which was a moment to remember :)
A1: In The Line Of Things B1: Gemini
A1: In The Line Of Things Unusually, this track appears on Side A where I was expecting Gemini to be. As soon as I heard the track I could recognise a familiar Katana sound. As you can expect from Katana, this is a slightly hard production with a nice heavy beat to it. After a short while an unusual sounding reverbing synth melody which reminds me of 'Fancy Fair' is heard. The effect is unusual but sounds excellent. I wasn't expecting a great deal from this track with 'Gemini' featuring on the same record but I must say this is a really good production from Katana.
B1: Gemini This track is the reason why I bought the record in the first place. I first heard it at the amazing INNERCITY event in Amsterdam where Marco V included it in his two hour set. It starts of with a very distinctive beat which brings back nice memories :) Anyway, there's a nice hard feeling to this. After a short while we hear a familiar typical Katana sound from 'Fancy Fair'. At first you might think this was just some new remix of the highly successful 'Fancy Fair' but then we hear a high uplifting synth not heard of before, playing a very smooth melody. All goes quite, the beat softens right down and all of a sudden the most amazing ripping, warbling syth melodic sound you have ever heard strikes you! This truly is mind blowing and I can distinctively remember the crowd at INNERCITY going absolutely wild over it
Conclusion I chose to review this track mainly because it was one of my favourites which I heard ay INNERCITY, and if it featured at such a high profile event then you know this has to be pure quality and indeed it is. Maybe 'Gemini' does deserve to be on Side A. However, both of these productions are excellent and I highly recommend you rush out to buy this as soon as you can! easily 10/10 from me
