The Emporium Runs Out Of Passion

© Passion One of the last remaining independent clubs in the UK will be closing its doors come January next year as The Emporium, the home of passion, becomes another casualty of the current economic climate...

The passion may well still be there but the money is not. After being one of the biggest independent clubbing venues throughout the past decade the current head of Passion Genix has announced the end of the Emporium come January 2014. It's a venue that made JFK famous and hosted 'Storm Vs. Passion' nights, a blend of hard styles and trance that clubbers came from all corners of the UK. If you have ever had the chance to step inside this quite unique venue I’m sure you will have experienced a night firmly craved into the memory as being a good one.

The Emporium is in a little old mining town of Coalville, Leicester and has been the home of ‘Passion’ for as long as I can remember. In today’s tough climate it’s hard for an independent outfit to survive and its that factor that has cause the demise of Passion. Genix, who took on the club full time a few years ago will be hosting three final parties, starting with a classic night on the 21st September, which as the one before will be packed to the rafters.

It’s sad to see another iconic club brand go to the ashes and a place that many have enjoyed a good night in to be not more. Weather the emporium building will live on is unclear but for what we all know it as it will never be the same again.

THE OFFICIAL STATEMENT

Dear the Passion faithful. Please accept our sincere apologise for the lack of communication over the last few months. Please understand it has been a very difficult time for us all.

As you all know, nightclubs in general over the last few years have taken a battering, especially with the financial crisis. The Emporium is the largest (and the last) Independent Superclub in the UK.

The sad news is all good things must come to an end and The Emporium as you know is going to close.

We don’t want to keep you hanging any longer so this is the plan.

We are doing 3 last ever Passion events.

PASSION CLASSICS (Saturday 21st September 2013)
PASSION (Concept & Date to be confirmed)
THE GRAND FINALE – THE LAST EVER PASSION (Saturday 25th January 2014)
