There is a fresh face over at the Recoverworld label and he's showcasing his musical talent on the sixth edition of their 'Underground Trance' series on Flux Delux! Liam Wilson takes control on the compilation and has put together a sensational mixture of new edits, fresh materials and exclusive tweaks of some all time classics...

The Recoverworld group has a rich history of pushing new trance talent into the scene and supporting their material. They are not afraid of letting them rip on a compilation either as they have with the sixth edition of their ‘Underground Anthems’ which singles out Liam Wilson. This very promising young talent is already shooting to trance music frame impression promoters, clubbers and fellow DJ’s with his high energy delivery of beats. His style of trance is along the lines of early Askew and O’Callaghan works and no doubt takes inspiration from their early recordings to formulate his own path. His debut on the Flux Delux imprint of Recoverworld is some what of a half artist album come track edit mix which is full of punch. It’s a showcase of his production talent and ability to slip one tune into the other.

While many big name artists move away from the pumping sound it’s a good job we have artists like Liam who continue to develop it. You can see that the likes of John Askew, Activa and John O’Callaghan are artists who he takes inspiration in his own sound from. The proof in the pudding is his compilation where he has taken a few legendary tracks and put his own edit on them. One such track would be one of Activa’s called ‘Stronger’ which Liam has added a layer of warmth onto the bassline and tweaked the melody a little. The result is hugely uplifting and very high energy trance with that vocal touch. While I’m talking about tweaks one of my favourite trance tracks ever is Inertia’s ‘The Chamber’, which does not really need any new mixes. Liam Wilson has not remixed it, but just added a few slight tweaks to it which really do work and still keep the uplifting banging nature of the track. That sort of track is not one you slow down and try to reinvent with a different style, like so many producers do with classics these days.

Those above are just two examples why you will really get into this mix. Liam’s put a few old classics, a few old favourites and mixed them in with his very own material and exclusive edits. His new material does not sound out of place with classic tracks like ‘Fade To Black’ and ‘Black Out’ from John Askew. I would describe this compilation as your staple Discover formula, just with a Liam Wilson flavouring. The beat is banging, you can hear some slight psy influence and Simon Patterson style patterns within Liam’s music. This is one mix that I put on again straight after the first listen and not many compilations these days deliver that sort of impact. For trance fans, this mix should be a welcome sight and Recoverworld should keep encourage talents like Liam to formulate this style of banging trance. If your being a listener who wants the ‘next big sound’ but not something that sounds familiar you might criticise this mix for not being very revolutionary. If you’re a trance fan though, this evolution of a familiar sound is just what the ear drums ordered.

Conclusion:
This is one of the most refreshing compilations I've heard for quite some time and my real first taste of what supreme talent Liam Wilson has when it comes to putting together a driving trance record. Not only in his own production but tweaking what works to make it that little bit better! This mix is top draw for an artist who has a very promising future ahead!
