 There is change coming to Ibiza this year as the Eden name and venue gets replaced by a 3 million euro refurbishment with a new name above the door, Gatecrasher Ibiza, once just a small trance club in Sheffield has touched down on the party island for 2014...
If you’re looking for Eden when you’re in Ibiza this year your not going to find it as after over a decade of outstanding parties on the island the Eden name is gone. The building that housed it has undergone a 3 million euro refurbishment and taken on a new name, Gatecrasher Ibiza. The Gatecrasher brand started as just a small club in the Yorkshire city of Sheffield and has a part to play in brining trance music to the mainstream. It’s a music style that the Gatecrasher of today tends to over look with today’s brand of ‘EDM’ and commercial rubbish. This once small club has turned into a global brand which has not moved over to the Ibiza Island for 2014.
They will be taking on some very firmly established clubs with Amnesia, Privilege, Pacha and Es Paradis just over the road. I can only suggest that the music style will be very spread across the broad with no doubt a few commercial nights on the books. They have not announced any artists, nights or dates for this year yet but having looked at the pictures inside the club gatecrasher has released its looking like money well spent. They will without doubt have one of the best sound systems on the Island and taking a little leaf out of Amnesia’s book by installing CO2 canons in the venue.
The Gatecrasher brand is very well known, especially to the trance fans that made it so iconic. All I wish for is they host a night withy that just in mind, some quality underground trance from today’s established and upcoming artists. Weather they will remains to be seen. It’s an end of an era for Eden but the start of a new one for Gatecrasher.
