WHotels Worldwide and burn® present the first ever DJ Lab EP – the result of taking six emerging artists from around the world and pairing them with six music legends, including the three-time Grammy nominatedDJ & Producer Paul Oakenfold; Lady Gaga two-time Grammy-nominated producer and composer DJ White Shadow; Mo’Wax founder James Lavelle, US two-time Grammy –nominated DJ Andy Caldwell and W Hotels’ Global Music Director, Michaelangelo L’Acqua, as part of theW Hotels & burn DJ Lab program, developed in collaboration with Popshop Agency. Launching today, music fans around the world can download the DJ Lab EP exclusively on Beatport.
The EP was created during the W Hotels &burn DJ Lab taking place at the W Retreat in Koi Samui, Thailand in September 2013. This was a weeklong mentorship program giving six emerging artists, picked from 1,400, a-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from the most renowned producers in the world.
They have continued to work with the Producers to create an outstanding collection of tracks crossing the dance music spectrum and proving to be a symbiotic learning and inspirational experience for both the young producers and their mentors.
Mexican DJ, T.A.T’s track Fix Me was the first track James Lavelle has produced since his days as Unkle, claiming to be so inspired by the experience that he invited Massive Attack producer Bruno Ellingham to mix it. British born, Hong Kong based duo, Parvenu were coached by DJ White Shadow, with Basement Jaxx and Dizzee Rascal singer Vula Malinga providing vocals on See Me Through.
L.A resident Share combines electro with nu-disco to produce the highly accomplished Just In, while Korean born Wendy Bailey’s chilled out Realm of Senses house bliss was produced by Riche Tune. Turkish producer Sezer Uysal, who has already seen his work supported by Paul Oakenfold, opts for a modern deep house sound on That’s The One, which was co-produced with Andy Caldwell.
Finally Berlin based Vonda7’s Teacher tech-houser was created with advice on finishing touches from Andy Caldwell. The experience has already proven to be life–changing for all the aspiring artists with Vonda7 even signing to the same management agency as Radiohead, and Sezer Uysal being booked to DJ all over the world, from Russia to Mexico.
The DJ Lab EP will be exclusively released on Beatport during IMS Ibiza. During the event T.A.T will play at Dalt Villa on Thurs 22nd alongside Steve Angello, Pretty Lights and Annie Mac. This will be followed on Friday by the official DJ Lab EP release party at Lips Reartes Beach Bar and Restaurant.
