Quincy Weigert - Limits Of Blue [Mondo Records]

There is a fresh face on Mondo Records this year with the very little known Quincy Weigert making his debut on the label with a release called 'Limits Of Blue'. Smooth progressive blended trance with a tasty remix from another new talent Edward South...

Just who is Quincy Weigert? In all honesty I don't really know. The information I’ve managed to source from the various web sources is he’s a young trance and progressive producer hailing from Park Town in Switzerland. While his name is not one to roll of the tip of the tongue it’s his musical alphabet that has caught the ear of Mondo Recordings. He has had full releases over the past two years on Spellbinding records and no doubt that caught the attention of Mondo, who are know to take a liking to the softer progressive sound of trance. I can see what caught their eye with this new release, his debut on the label called ‘Limits Of Blue’ back up with a remix from another new talent Edward South.

I must admit this is my first taste of Quincy and I'm very impressed. I might have heard one of his previous tunes in passing as he did get a feature on Armada's 'Tranceworld' compilation but as with digital compilation's these days you can't pick up the box to have a nosy at the tracklist. His style is said be on the mellow progressive sound of trance, perfect you would say for a release on the Mondo label. It's a sound that Darren Tate, Mondo's head gaffa would have taken notice and snapped up at the first opportunity to get signed to the label. It's a super smooth blend of flowing trance with a delicate building melody and sweeping main break. I think you will really enjoy this one if you like flowing melodies.

Edward South is another new name on the trance circuit and no stranger to the Mondo label having had a solo release on the label before. He had a single called 'Wonderland' released last month. His remix here is really good and takes onboard the original is very pure form for a remix and strips back some elements to create a very clean mix. The focus is really on the main riff from the original and to add depth slips in some sweeping back keys. The beat with elements stripped down packs a good punch and he’s made great use of the sound from the original.

Conclusion:
This has got to be the best release from Mondo Records so far this year, which you might tell as its the only one I've reviewed. The trance scene has a new army of bright talents breathing fresh life into while a lot of the old guard turn to cheesy house. Quincy Weigert may have a curious name but there is no doubt over the quality of his tunes, quality melodic trance.
