The harder sound is still alive I the trance world and with labels like Liquid Pulse it can only keep thriving. Check out their latest release from Scottish producer Kris Day…
If you’re like me, then you might not have heard much about the Liquid Pulse label before. They are steadily building up a positive reputation in trance circles and getting featured in the big names radio shows recently. The label is actually a club night promoter that runs events down in Plymouth, usually at a club called Crash Manor. I’m sure many of our UK readers will have attended one of their parties over the past nine years. They have a good one lined up for their birthday in May with a special live set from Lab4. Right then, back onto topic so let’s check out their latest single release from Scotsman Kris Day.
:: Ally Brown :: Kris Day
:: Available through Juno Download
It’s a double scot affair for this release, which is Liquid Pulse’s 12th up to now as on remix duties for this energetic trance tune they call ‘Activate’ is Ally Brown. It reminds me a little bit of the Dumonde style which blew up over a decade ago with how this release goes. It’s also refreshing to hear some banging trance from a label and artist I don’t know that much about.
The original has some wicked acid lines ripping through it with the pace very much in the high BPM range. It’s the main melody that gives me that old school feel about it, thinking back to Fluticht style of trance. Powerful beats, acid galore and a ripping main melody! Ally Brown’s take on this energetic trip follows a similar route to the original, toning down the acid lines but pumping up the melody injection. I’ve been very impressed with both these tracks!
Conclusion:
Its good to hear Hard Trance is still alive and kicking! This is a great release with two very tidy mixes from a label and club night that should be getting more exposure with releases like this. Top draw work from Kris Day and Ally Brown!
