When you sign PMT and Pete Heller to remix duty-you are asking for nothing less than a classic! Their individual productions on this represent their own unique style! This is how good they are!>>>>>
A:Pete Heller's Stylus Mix B:PMT Remix
A Side: What can you say about Pete heller-he is a legend. His recent style has shone through in such tracksas 'Future child', 'Voodoo nights','Stylus Trouble'. That trademark 'Hellerism' is reflected in this also!
The track starts out with it usual bassline-seeminlgy dragging the high hats with it. The melody is quickly introduced, as this is the main feature. It quickly drops to the first melody-laying out an african style harmony. The bassline starts up again in conjustion with the underlying harmony. The vocals are layered on top to fill out the track. It is quick to go into the main breakdown-really creating a warm atmosphere. Some quality "zapping" effects edge out the alomost breakbeat style bassline for a couple of phrases. The highs are introduced to build the track up again. The track flows through the vocals for that end of night feel, rounding off with the famous bassline.
B Side: PMT's remix starts out as deep and devastating as 'gyromancer'. Simple breaks hit the floor-tension ever building. The female vocal echoes making the bassline stronger. Teasingly it drops to the first melody-again leaving the vocal to create the atmosphere. A cool shuffling bassline ebbs underneath to provide a deeper edge to the track. The bassline rises to begin weaving its way through the midway stage. The second melody at the mid stage provides reverbed effects-which soundbrilliant-contrasting the overall PMT style. The track seems to be ever bulding although it is 3/4 of the way through. Highly expectant of something major-you are not disappointed-as the vocal rises to raise the overall sound. Increasing layers see the end of the track, as it continues the breaks till the end.
These are two quality mixes. I first heard John Digweed play this back in November-and it was excellent then. It is stillin running with a lot of peoples sound today. Both remixers express their own style-Pete Heller with his more housier sound and PMT taking you through a deeper groove. Both are ideal tracks to create an atmosphere! excellent!
