I’ve not been too fond of Flashover of late as all they seem to release if electro house but, Airbase has put a trance spanner in the works with his new single ‘Lachrymose’...

There is hope for Flashover after all. I’ve not put a review of any of their recent releases on i:Vibes for a while now. What is the reason for this? I can’t recall a track on the label that I’ve played for the second time or has not been branded as electro house. There has been a very noticeable lack of trance on the label, or what I would class as trance anyway. The only thing that gathered my interest when the latest release flew into the promo box was that Airbase was the artist. He is not one to fly off piste and has kept true to the trance scene for the past 20 years, which for the purists out there like me is a very good thing!

Airbase is an artist who may not have the headline status of some other big name trance artists but he is one who has the respect of his piers. Why? It’s all in the music and this new single is a shining example of why. ‘Lachrymose’ when translated, I had to look it up, means intense emotion and that is quite a fitting title for a track like this. The production is as slick as ever and if you’re an uplifting trance fan who likes some thought provoking within their melodies this will provide it. The chords, the beats and backing pads in here are just a joy to behold. You don’t have to wait for a drop, this just smoothly flows with gorgeous melodies and beautiful piano chords.

Conclusion:
One of the best I’ve heard from Airbase and from what I’ve been reading this is just a teaser for a new artist album coming out this year. If the rest of the tracks are anything like this one then we well have a classic on the cards.
