Chicago producer Kate Simko and her ensemble ‘London Electronic Orchestra’ blur the lines between Electronic and Classical Music at new album release party May 12th...
On 12th May, Ovation presents the album release party for revered Chicago producer Kate Simko and her ensemble London Electronic Orchestra, alongside renowned deep house DJ Citizenn, and opening sets from Gabriel Prokofiev’s Nonclassical collective, and Wu-Lu. Live visuals by Paul Vivien. Over the past decade, Kate Simko has placed herself at the forefront of Chicago’s new generation of house and techno talent. The Illinois-bred, London-based producer has been behind a series of treasured albums and EPs for the likes of Ghostly International, Hello? Repeat and Leftroom. Simko is more than just an electronic musician, however: she’s a classically-trained pianist, orchestral composer, and film scorer. In 2014, Simko completed a masters at Royal College of Music and formed her genre-bending project London Electronic Orchestra. LEO has toured around the UK, from the National Gallery to Bestival, released an EP with Jamie Jones and Jem Cooke last year, and a recently collaborated with Katy B and Jamie Jones on Katy’s album ‘Honey’. On 12th May, Kate Simko & LEO will perform tracks off their debut album on The Vinyl Factory, ahead of their first international tour. The night also features Crosstown Rebels’ mainstay Citizenn, a groovy downtempo live set by South London’s Wu-Lu, and an opening left field DJ selection by Gabriel Prokofiev’s Nonclassical collective. Join Ovation on May 12th for a singular performance from one of electronic music’s most forward-thinking artists alongside an eclectic mix of London’s contemporary talent.
