EMI Germany continue their bid for dominance on the European trance scene with a new release from their biggest signing Cosmic Gate. Presented in Original and DJ Isaac mixes the 12" offers something for the crossover trance dj's as well as the more underground amongst you
With the might of a mega corp behind them the EMI Germany label can hardly fail to deliver. Michael Urgacz head of A&R for the label seems to be guiding the brand very well , dropping hit track after hit track. From licensed tracks like Lasgo's "Something" to the original release of "Exploration of Space" last year EMI Germany have had a consistent presence in many boxes which is an achievement for "uncool" corporate dance product.
A Side "The Truth" Original Mix B Side "The Truth" DJ Isaac Mix"
Cosmic Gate's original mix is a little lacking for me. Gertman trance by numbers. Good punchy bass kicks and well produced percussion are there but the use of stabbed German chords that give way to now all to familiar trumpeting strings is less than original. Very radio friendly and sure to get a lot of exposure but for me the fun starts on the flip side with DJ Isaac.
DJ Isaac's remix is like Joy Kitikonti's "Joy Energizer" with a nitrous turbo charge fitted. That massive analogue noise swoops in very early and has such a clean driving edge to the sound that it lifts the whole tune into crowd action heaven. Very driving bass pumps track to it's vocal break down where we hear thet "The truth is hard to find" and that it "Guides you to the light". Very nice sentiments I'm sure. As we emerge from the break THAT noise appears in twisted filtered form until it busts back with bass and we are driven into a strobe lit synth tastic final section. Very good underground German trance. Check!
