Next up on Sunkissed we have the long eagerly awaited re-release of: Hamel - "Close". These wiked re-mixes from Evolution have been causing quite a stir after it was introduced to the world by John Digweed when he opened with it on one of his Summer 2001 Kiss FM Mixes.

This will also be used by Dave Seaman on his forthcoming mix from
Melbourne for the next Global Underground - due for release in the spring/summer of 2002.

Originally produced in March 2001 Featuring vocalist: Crista Crane and released in the summer of 2001 on Teknology (TEK007) Evolution produced the Re-mixes almost one year ago......There is good reason why we have waited this long to release these mixes!!!

 * First aired by John Digweed last September and first charted by 3 Beat in December 2001 *

The on fire Sunkissed bring in the old kings of progressive Evolution to remix their recent winner ‘Close’. The result is a record that will be played again and again over not only the coming months but also the coming years. Hooky stabs, spaced out washes and whispy vocals tied together with tight interesting rhythmics. Wonderful!

There are two mixes - both from Evolution. One is almost beatless, more of a reprise really and the other is the straight up prog mix! Convientionally sounding prog really turns me on these days; as usually it has to have a techy or housey feel. This doesn't, but im still into it. Starting with the driving beats and stabs, this almost boasts subtle, deep, atmospheric strings and a minimal, almost distant female vocal, creating an overall deep but pumping vibe. A good set filler that definitely works!

Bill Hamel’s awesome Sunkissed & Teknology imprints continue to be at the forefront of the progressive scene. Here, Bill’s stellar Original from last year gets a new re-working courtesy of Manchester’s Evolution duo. Included in the new package are the ambient mix & the 4/4, vocal mix. Both of their mixes utilize the best parts from the Original while adding deep & sexy, atmospheric chords to the breakdown. If it’s smooth, progressive you’re after, look no further. This is the shit!
