We take a look at the Tomcraft and harder edged Derb Remixes which have been hammered at all the huge events recently
Kai Tracid have had the remix treatment done by two of the scene's most influential artists: Derb and Tomcroft. Both with different styles, this release makes an interesting blend of hard and techno trance remixes...
A1: Kai Tracid - Trance and Acid (Derb Mix) B1: Kai Tracid - Trance and Acid (Tomcraft Mix)
A1: Kai Tracid - Trance and Acid (Derb Mix) If you haven't heard this brilliant remake of 'Trance and Acid' yet, you're surely living in another dimension. With plays from: Mario Lopez, Warmduscher and Kai Tracid himself, this is one hard ass mutha!
Derb cannot be faulted these days, with 'Derb' and 'In Africa' being the most played, Derb have done wonderful things to this track, and it really drives energy without lacking quality. Keeping the main tune similar, the buzzing, driving, energy force behind the track and then building new beats and basslines around it gives the tune a new life and mood that is Derb all over. Check it if you haven't already...
B1: Kai Tracid - Trance and Acid (Tomcraft Mix) Well... at first you'd think of a wierd techno/trance/house effort - sounding cool, but not a usual trance track. However; this is a real shock in my opinion. This is quality trance, with slow and emotive beats and retaining the same tune as the Derb and original mixes, Tomcraft has transformed the tune into a dancefloor monster.
Tomcraft is known for tracks and remixes world-wide, yet not a commercial icon (which has it's benefits) because now he has oportunities to work on Brooklyn Bounce and Dreamcatcher tracks, and now Kai Tracid. The world of trance is looking up for this man.
Conclusion... 10/10 from both chaps, great stuff. Hard trance from Derb, and Harder edged, slow-pitched progressive trance/techno from Tomcraft. Both are worth the money, and their weight in gold. A valuable record in any trance DJ's box.
Conclusion:
