© Black BoxIt’s been 30 years since Black Box hit the top of the charts with ‘Ride On Time’ and to celebrate they have put together an anniversary orchestral disco version,,,

30 years ago In 1989, BLACKBOX released “Ride On Time” – little did they know what immense impact this record would have on the international dance scene. Going from an underground house record to being #1 for 6 weeks in the UK charts, a legendary Top Of The Pops lip synced performance and the best-selling single in the UK for that year. Elsewhere in the world, it peaked at #2 Sweden and Australia and sat in the top 10 throughout the rest of Europe becoming one of the best-selling 90’s pop dance tracks to this day.

Now the iconic release has been commemorated with a specially recorded acoustic disco version, bringing in live orchestral production from a whole ensemble of musicians, live guitar, strings, horns and drums and even a live tambourine played the whole way through it, still with the same screaming Loleatta Holloway vocal. The new Ride On Time (Special Disco Theme) was instantly  supported by BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong who played the new version exclusive as part of his History Of House series.

We wanted to commemorate the release with a special version,  every 2 months a new remix comes out of ride on time, too many over the year to count.  So we thought we would produce a complete live orchestral disco version as Dan Hartman would have imagined it in 1979, we did it  as a homage to Dan and Loleatta Holloway’.  Daniele Davoli - Black Box

Black Box originally hailing from Italy brought the Italo-House piano sound into the mainstream. Unquestionably delivering one of the finest examples of 90’s pop music in history and in the process becoming one of the most important and influential pop dance bands in the UK at the time. Monopolising the airwaves during the late 80’s and early ‘90’s, alongside acts like Ace of Base, Dee-Lite, Culture Beat, C & C Music Factory, M People, Technotronic, all of whom were contemporaries and populated the musical landscape.

Ride On Time’ originally sampled Loleatta Holloway's 1980 disco hit ‘Love Sensation’, one of the most sampled records in House music of all time. it was then re-sung by an anonymous well-known pop singer and famously lip-synced by French model Katrin Quinol on Top Of The Pops.
