Being played by Armin Van Buuren already, and having a lot of capability to become a BIG 2002 tune, Ralphie B is back, under a new guise, with 2 great songs.
Who doesn’t know Ralphie B – Massive?? Everyone played it, Armin van Buuren played it numerous times in his ID&T show, Paul Van Dyk caned it in his sets, and he even reworked it for his album compilation ‘The Politics Of Dancing’. Ralphie B is one to look out for, he has been busy lately, remixing Tastexperience – Highlander, Misja Helsloot – First Second, and now Ralph Barendse is back with another ace production, under a different guise, but bringing you the same: quality trance, with sweet melodies, great synts, and nice riffs in them.
A: Monkey Forest B: Travelling
A: Monkey Forest Beats, melody, synts, riff, all are present when this song starts. This is the typical Armin/Tiësto sound: easy on the ears, great to dance to. But it’s the actual melody that does it for everyone, nice dreamy sounds, to ‘float’ on. After that great melody, there’s another one, even better, which will blow you away. One of the best synths I heard in a really long time. This isn’t one of those song which will be forgotten that easily. I can see Paul Van Dyk playing it in his sets, same for Judge Jules.
B: Travelling Starting off quite similar as Disclosure, the b-side of Massive, this looks promising. Not the big uplifting song like Monkey Forest, this has less melody, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not of the same quality. This is again a high quality song. This has a really soft melody in it, the ‘hands in the air’ type, where everyone just dreams, and flies away on the melody.
Ralphie B is one to look out for in the future if he keeps producing like this. Get this 12”, it’s an essential tune for your record box.
