February may be the shortest month, but we’ve managed to fill the last 28 days right up! This month, we released Marsh’s new album ‘Endless’, as well as MEDUZA and Eli & Fur’s showstopper ‘Pegasus’ plus new music from Romain Garcia, Simon Doty, Leaving Laurel and CRi.

We’ve also been hitting the dancefloor in Montréal, Dubai and London’s fabric, and been beavering away on our next album campaign, which you’ll be finding out more about next week. This one may come as a very exciting surprise to you, so stay tuned for that announcement.

In the meantime, keep reading for more on Red Rocks, Reflections and the return of a label start.

ANJUNADEEP ON THE ROAD IN 2023

This year is already shaping up to be a big one on the events front, and this month, we’ve announced a few new additions to the calendar, including, of course, our label debut at the iconic Red Rocks in Colorado.

With so many events to choose from, and more announcements coming soon, we chatted to our Events Marketing team, Mary and Amy, to get the lowdown on all our upcoming dates.

Anjunadeep Open Air: Miami
"I love Miami Music Week - the city always feels electric filled with dance music fans. We've got a stacked lineup this year, including artists who have new music coming out, so this is a party not to miss. Plus, MAPS has added more bathrooms and bars!"
- Mary

Anjunadeep presents: Explorations
"There's nothing quite like Explorations. The music, the community, the beaches with their turquoise water. Watching the sun rise over the Albanian mountains at the tail-end of a 5-hour set from one of your favorite artists is a spiritual experience."
- Mary

Above & Beyond's Group Therapy Weekender
"The Gorge will always be a special venue for Anjuna, and after visiting myself I can honestly say there's truly nothing quite like it. This year is going to be another one to remember. There's just something magic about dancing the night away in front of that incredible view"
- Amy

Anjunadeep Open Air: London
"Our London shows are always special, and almost feel like a family reunion in many ways. And where better to dance to the sounds of Anjunadeep than in the midst of the beautiful greenery of Finsbury Park?"
- Amy

Anjunadeep Open Air: Red Rocks
"Red Rocks is one of the most iconic music venues (on earth, I think), and to be the first dance music label to take over the stage is so exciting. This will be one of those special shows you think back to for years after."
- Mary

WELCOME BACK CRi!

After almost a year away from the Anjuna release schedule, today, we welcomed our good friend CRi back to the fold with stellar new single ‘Losing My Mind’ feat. Jesse Mac Cormack.

His last single ‘Something About’ is still a regular feature on the Anjuna HQ stereo, and the new offering is no different. If you caught CRi, and surprise guest Jesse, at Igloofest earlier this month, or have kept an eye on the Anjunadeep Instagram, you may recognise this one!

Speaking on the single, CRi says...
Exactly two years ago, it was a cold winter day during which Jesse and I were in my "studio", or rather, in the double room of my old apartment in Montréal. We couldn't make any noise. Unfortunately for my neighbors, our inspiration was so strong that time stopped - we got carried away and "lost our minds". This song is about the beauty of letting go and the strength of letting your intuition speak.”

'LOSING MY MIND' THE MUSIC VIDEO

A video just as lively and memorable as the track itself, watch the official music video for ‘Losing My Mind’, dir. Romain F. Dubois and Ménad Kesraoui, now on CRi’s YouTube channel.

This video is the creation of Romain and Menad. I'd like to say that I had something to do with it, but that's not true. It was really important for me to let them take ownership of the song. I gave them complete freedom, I didn't try or want to control their intuition. I see the characters in the video as free electrons who live in their own way, and it is precisely this singular expression that will eventually unite them.
- CRi

REFLECTIONS RECAP

This month, Reflections welcomed critically acclaimed composer, producer and International Feel label founder, Mark Barrott, to the label. His eight-track soundtrack album ‘Jōhatsu (蒸発)’, lands on April 17. You can check our the first single and opening track on the album, 'Kyoto (京都)', out now.

"When we first started planning the Reflections label three or four years ago, I made a playlist to try and capture what the sound of the label might be, and filled it with all the best chillout music from Anjuna along with some favourites from our wishlist artists.

Mark Barrott featured high in the playlist. I'm a huge fan of his 'Sketches From an Island' album series, and pretty much everything released on his cult record label International Feel. Mark has been a figurehead in the revival of 'balearic' as a genre over the past decade or so - something about his music is so transportive, he manages to capture the sound and spirit of Ibiza so well.

It was such a pleasant surprise when we received an email from Mark last year, not long after we launched Reflections, telling us about this fascinating new soundtrack album that he was looking to release. 'Johatsu (蒸発)' is a beautiful addition to our flourishing Reflections catalogue, and shows that Mark isn't limited to Ibiza when he wants to take his listeners around the world."

-- Dom Donnelly, Anjunadeep Label Manager

WHAT DOES JOHATSU MEAN

This album is an original film score commissioned for a Japanese documentary entitled ‘Jōhatsu…the art of evaporation’, which unfortunately halted production due to the COVID pandemic.

Every year, it is estimated that as many as 100,000 people in Japan vanish, without a trace. These are the so-called jōhatsu. The “evaporated people”. People become jōhatsu for many different reasons including addiction, divorce and job loss. While some people may consider taking their own lives, others simply… evaporate. Jōhatsu refers to these people who purposefully leave the lives they knew behind. ‘Jōhatsu... the art of Evaporation’, shadowed a Japanese man as he went through this exact process.

What you now hear is that original score. The soundtrack to the film that never was. The tracks on this album are the ‘full’ pieces - those written for the longer sequences of film. And we can’t wait for you to hear it!

TOUR TRANSMISSIONS

This month, our family of artists has been travelling far and wide on their respective album tours. Nils Hoffmann has just finished up his debut North American tour, and met up with fellow Anjunadeep alum Promnite on the way!

Simon Doty is on his fifth country, and third continent(!) of the month, on his ‘Universal Language’ album tour, and Marsh has been celebrating his birthday in New York, and meeting up with some of the Anjunafamily at Brooklyn's Cat Café.

In addition, Moon Boots and his band are currently in rehearsal for the 'Ride Away' Live Spring Tour, Pete's first live shows in almost four years!
