The latest from Yakuza is 'Polestar', produced by upcoming Dutch producer Robert Burns and his studio partner Nenes, who also puts in a remix on the flip...
:: Robert Burns - Polestar :: Yakuza :: YAK006
A: Polestar (Original) 'Polestar' has a moody feel to it as it begins, all this stemming from the thick beat and droning synth running along with it. Things toughen up as the track goes on - deep and gritty synths really make this something strong and chunky with substance. A deep yet trancey synth is introduced and built upon until it is pumping out a catchy, stabbed rhythm, ultimately taking the track in a really techy direction. While not over-energetic, this track definitely has a lot of decent and lively rhythm to enjoy and experience.
B: Polestar (Nenes Deep Mix) Nenes' provides a 'Deep' mix of 'Polestar'. It consists of big chunky beats and soft rounded synths, which do give off a smooth, mellow and deep sound. The breakdown is a precursor to the tracks subtle release of even chunkier beats along with a coarse, gritty and dirty bass synth that goes along really well with the thick, smooth bassline. Whilst this mix definitely deserves its 'deep' title, it too is pushing into techy territory, not just the deep, mellow, trancey side of things. Good track.
Conclusion:
The Original Mix of 'Polestar' is nice and techy, offering a good balance between the tech and the trance. For a much deeper experience, the mix by Nenes is definitely worth checking out.
