That's a _long_ tracklist. 58 classic trance anthems sprawled out in front of you over 3 discs.
Now, I'm going to cover this album slightly differently, as everyone knows these tracks by now and all you want to know is: "Is this worth buying and listening to??". To do this, I'm going to look at the percentage of each CD which should be considered as 'cheese' and see what we come up with.
CD1 CD1 kicks off a little shakily with a few scary titles in the first 4 tracks, but we do see a good number of quality titles over the whole run though. I make it 8 out of 20, which is quite a high number to start off with. There are gems like Aurora - Ordinary World, 'Born Slippy' and 'Children' though. CD1 = 40% cheese.
CD2 CD2 though is quite the solid reply with only 3 out of 20 dodgy titles. There are some real winners though, with tracks like System F - Out Of The Blue, William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings and Tiesto - Suburban Train being included. CD2 = 15% cheese.
CD3 CD3 does even better, with only 1 iffy inclusion out of 18 tracks. The greats on this CD which can be noted are anthems like Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes, Art Of Trance - Madagascar, Rank 1 - Airwave and Conjure One - Tears From The Moon. CD3 = 5.56% cheese.
One thing to note is that a lot of these tracks seem to be abridged edits which drop into and out of the main sections rather abruptly, unmixed. Hence the totally colossal tracklisting.
Anyway, that makes a total of 12 cheesey inclusions out of 58 potential classic anthems. This results in (on my rudimentary cheese scale anyway) a total of 20% cheese for the entire CD. That's not bad, and this can be easily forgiven by the greatness of the remaining 46 tracks.
Conclusion:
Ahh, the age-old classics debate. Some people love 'em, some people loathe 'em. This triple CD voyage into nostalgia is of the stronger breed though, and should be given a chance, as there are a lot of great tracks to be heard here. Just check out the tracks and make sure you know what you're getting before buying!
