Tech trance producer Robert Burns and progressive producer Hydroid go head to head in an interesting collaboration on one of the latest tracks you can buy on the Oxygen Recordings imprint...
:: Robert Burns Vs. Hydroid - Magnolia :: Oxygen Recordings :: OXY018
1) Magnolia This collaboration really seems to stand out simply because of the two quite different styles each producer has made their names with. To get straight to the point, the results of this are pleasing on basically all levels. You're immediately hit with a strong wall of solid, well produced sound. From here, you can easily spot each producer's distinct influences. There's no deny the toughness which lurks behind the big fat beats and the electrifying percussion - definitely Burns. But then there's the deeper synth presence, tiny hints of melodic chords and the blissful breakdown which is lead by a beautiful and emotional array of orchestral strings. Things are pretty clean cut up to there. The second half of the track is where the two styles collide and things start to get interesting. Things begin to be as you'd expect from an Oxygen release. A dark and menacing murmering of synth begins to stir in the depths and slowly rises to the foreground in a spine chilling climax. The track erupts into a barrage of thick and bassy synth stabs, which in time gets even more frenetic and energized. There's a tough, gritty, techy feeling to this last section of the track, melded with a subtle smoothness from the synthwork. Compelling, dancefloor igniting tunage!

Conclusion:
A fantastic result has come from these two top class producers knocking their heads together. The definition of decent tech trance, don't miss out.
