The latest one from Jochen Miller has landed on High Contrast Recordings with a single he featured on his excellent mix compilation 'High Contrast Presents'. It's the Red One...
The last single releases from Jochen Miller have been nothing short of excellent. They have both been on the very reliable High Contrast Recordings label with 'Brace Yourself' and 'Face Value' delivering two storming tech driving Trance records in that formidable Jochen style. The latest bonb to drop from Dutch born Jochen is another uplifting tech effort in the form of the 'Red One'. Backed up by a remix from Scottish producer David Forbes, who has had his fair share of good releases this year this new one is shaping up to be another essential slice of Jochen Miller.
:: Original Mix :: David Forbes Remix
The Original Mix is another example of why Jochen has really come of age this year. He's managed to spin into the mix here a bright mood but keeping a dark undertone with the rough sound throughout. The build up is nicely done, kicking off with a firmly sharp beat and highly crisp kicks fed off it. Early on there is a flash of the main melody to come which is big on impact and velocity. Using short dribbling strings to push forward the lead up to it they soon transform into a whooshing build that creeps to almost silence. It's that the rough tech edge melody grinds in the background while a lighter overtone drives onto. It's the music Jochen does best and you can almost tag it as his individual style he's been perfecting over the course of this year. The changes under the sparklingly bright melody give it the edge in here.
David Forbes has been a powerhouse throughout this year with the number of productions and remixes he’s released. He’s never remixed a Jochen Miller record before though on first impression with this one he’s took to the task like a duck to water. The whole mix is a smooth flowing affair as you would expect with the uplifting stuff he has released in the past. The flow here is evident right from the word go with the percussion and bass line that’s gritty and growls along underneath the tinny beat. The lead is very well worked and suits the bright melody that creeps in shortly before cutting back again. It’s a sign of things to come and working similarly to the original in overall structure. The break comes with a soft keyed bass driven string that drops the main melody in, repeats it out and then thumps it all in with the beat.
Conclusion:
The consistency from Jochen this year has been outstanding with not a bad release so far. This is a fine last single for the year and that rough tech style pushing out a bright key driven melody that’s pure bliss. The remix is a solid one from David Forbes but you’re always going to put the Original Mix on over it.
